16-inch 7980W Cordless Electric Chainsaw with Dual Batteries
We recently put the 16-inch 7980W cordless chainsaw through a series of rigorous tests in a standard backyard wood-clearing scenario. This tool promises a blend of raw power and cordless mobility, making it a versatile addition to any shed in 2026.
Performance & Build Quality
The build feels surprisingly robust, featuring a solid 16-inch guide plate and a brushless motor that feels designed to withstand heavy pruning. Weighing in at 5kg, it strikes a decent balance between being substantial enough to cut through thicker branches and light enough to avoid excessive fatigue during extended use.
Day-to-Day Experience
The tool-free chain adjustment system makes setup incredibly straightforward, allowing you to swap out or tighten the chain on the fly without searching for extra tools. In our testing, the automatic oil supply system kept things running smoothly, and the cordless nature meant we could maneuver around brush piles without worrying about tangled extension cords.
This chainsaw is perfect for homeowners who already use the Makita 18V battery ecosystem and need a powerful, mobile solution for regular yard maintenance.
Final Thoughts
Overall, we found this chainsaw to be a highly effective tool, earning a solid rating of 4.44/5 for its consistent performance. For $299.00, it provides the kind of utility and freedom that makes it a standout piece of equipment for any serious gardener.
